Beat Dry Skin This Winter With These Tips, Part 2.jpg

The chilly weather is nearly over, but not quite. With at least another two months of cold temperatures here in Staten Island, you can plan on continuing that seasonal fight against dry skin caused by crisp, dry air. But there’s no need to fear because your friendly neighborhood Staten Island spa has some helpful hints to help you combat dry skin until the warmer weather finally arrives.

In part one of this short blog series, we looked at three ways to keep your skin soft and bright all winter long. These tips included:

  • Using a humidifier to fight dryness in your home.

  • Moisturizing your skin daily.

  • Exfoliating your face and body at least once a week.

Today, the health and beauty experts at Remedi Spa will share three more tips to fight dry skin, which can get you through the next few months of cold weather. Are you ready to book a hydrating spa treatment? Contact your trusted Top Rated Local® spa in Staten Island today!

Hydrate from the Inside Out

To put it simply, healthy, radiant skin starts from the inside. By drinking plenty of water and teas that contain antioxidants, you can help nourish your entire body to maintain good circulation for healthier cell production. In addition to staying hydrated with fluids, eating a healthy diet is one of the best ways to achieve healthy, hydrated skin.

Eat fruits and veggies that contain high levels of water content. These include fruits like strawberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, peaches, and oranges. These fruits are also yummy and jam-packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals. Veggies with high levels of water include lettuce, cucumber, celery, zucchini, tomatoes, and bell peppers.

Bathe in Lukewarm Water

Soaking in a super hot bath is super comforting and soothing to achy, tense muscles, but hot water is actually not that great for your skin. Some research shows that bathing in hot showers and baths does the opposite of hydrating the skin by breaking down lipid barriers in the skin. As a result, this leads to a loss of moisture.

Try Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is one of the easiest ways to achieve softer, more nourished skin. Using the edge of a sharp, surgical blade, your esthetician can gently scrape away the dry layers of dead skin from your face with skill and precision. In addition to removing dry skin, the blade removes those pesky vellus hairs, also known as “peach fuzz.” Afterward, you’re left with silky smooth skin that feels hydrated and soft, rather than dry and brittle.

Schedule a Hydrating Spa Treatment

Along with our dermaplaning treatments, we offer a wide range of hydrating spa treatments and facials designed to rejuvenate and revitalize the skin. Here at Remedi Spa, we want to offer the best, most effective treatments to stimulate healthy skin and a radiant glow. Our HydraFacials not only cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin, but also tightens the skin and reduces wrinkles and fine lines to restore a youthful appearance. Microdermabrasion is another beneficial treatment that can eliminate dry, dull layers of skin in order to reveal fresher, healthier looking skin.
