What’s the Deal With Body Wraps?
If you’ve been paying attention to the spa world these last few years, you’ve probably seen quite a bit of advertising related to body wraps. With all of the information about these wraps available, it can be difficult to discern what is true and what is embellishment. Here at Remedi Spa, we want all of our Staten Island customers to be informed of the advantages of body wraps, and in today’s blog post we are going to cover some of the real benefits that this spa treatment can have for you.
How a Body Wrap Works
Before we get into the benefits of body wraps, we wanted to first explain what the body wrap process entails. In a typical body wrap session, you will lie down on one of our massage tables and a massage therapist will apply an exfoliating scrub to your body to remove any surface impurities. After the scrub has been applied, you will rinse off and the massage therapist will apply the wrap. After the wrap is applied, you may be covered in additional blankets, and then left alone for about 30 minutes. During this time, the ingredients of the wrap will draw toxins and impurities from your body as you sweat. After the allotted amount of time has passed, the massage therapist will unwrap you, and you will once again take a quick rinse in a shower.
So, What are the Benefits?
- Quick Weight Loss: One of the most lauded benefits of body wraps is that they are a quick way to shed a few pounds. While this is true, we don’t want you to think that you will emerge from a body wrap and magically be 15 pounds lighter. While it is true that body wraps can help to quickly shed water weight and tighten skin, that is all they can do to help you lose weight. If you’re looking for a quick way to shed a few pounds before a big event, such as a wedding, then a body wrap might be the perfect solution.
- Skin Rejuvenation: One of the very real benefits of a body wrap is skin exfoliation. Your skin has to put up with a lot and taking some time to pamper it is never a bad idea. If you choose an exfoliating scrub before your body wrap is applied, the wrap will work to bring out any toxins or impurities near the surface of the skin. Additionally, as the wrap works to remove these surface impurities it also moisturizes the skin. When you emerge from your body wrap, your skin will feel soft, supple, and smooth.
- Relaxation: Although it is often one of the most overlooked benefits, body wraps offer a level of relaxation that is beneficial not only to your body but to your mind as well. As you lay in the cocoon of moisturizing ingredients, your muscles will relax and become less tense. Many people find that a body wrap session can be as relaxing as a full massage.
